Awesome Light mods that I installed!!!
Honestly I give you major props. Do what you like. Its your car you paid for it. (or someone else idk..) The point being..do what makes you happy. Life is too shot to try to please everyone else. However, I wouldn't put streetglow or hyper blue beamed lights on my car. But then again thats my tastes not yours. Happy Motoring! Oh ya dont worry about it being illegal. Remember its only illegal if you get caught! haha So drive in the daylight.

Firstly....7000k and the higher bulb temperatures are LESS bright than, say, 4500K which is where most stock bulbs are. If you think your new flashy blue bulbs are brighter, you are sorely mistaken. The higher temperature the bulb, the lower lumen output they have. Near 7000k you are putting out less lumens than even a simple halogen ball. So good moves on that mod

It's also not the brightness that people are mistaking for high beams....it's that you are literally dazzling them which is incredibly dangerous on your part. Because you fit HID bulbs into halogen housings with a cheap aftermarket kit, the light is not being projected properly. Thus, your headlights are actually acting much like high beams in that they are now shining in the eyes of drivers in oncoming traffic. There is lots of talk about this issue, but basically the halogen reflectors are unable to properly put the HID bulb's light on the road. It has two effects....firstly its incredibly dangerous as it blinds oncoming traffic, and secondly since most of the light is going towards this glare just mentioned, you are losing even more light on the road further hindering your light output.
You can think its 'lol' or cool that your bulbs are so blue or that people are flashing you because they are 'so bright' , but the truth is people are flashing you because your lack of true HID lights are hurting their eyes and making it hard for them to drive.
Also, underbody lighting FTL.
PS, did you join a line of 3 other minis (one red, one electric blue, and one hyper blue) in traffic on the way to a car show?

I would like to get yellow LEDs for under the hood scoop and under car, as well as Fuschia colored HIDs, Lambo doors, any suggestions for a nice set of 20 inch spinners, just got a 24 piece sticker pack in mail....kewl. I seen a car at Hot Import Nights (HIN) with TVs on HeadLamps I want that too.
MINIRICE
MINIRICE
to my knowledge you would have to make them ......but then again with the little mini side marker im sure it wouldnt be too hard of a project to throw an led bulb in there
I still can't figure out why anyone would do this to a GP car. A "regular" MINI , yes - go for it...but jeez, they didn't make very many of the GPs. I was considering trying to get one for myself later this year. It sounds like it's going to be tough to find a stock GP, and that's unfortunate.
hey, now, take it easy on markeymark - he's a good guy and his GP is awesome.
So, it's not everyone's cup o tea - neither is mine, but he has made his more fun for him, and that's what's important!
Like my first grade teacher used to say :
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."
you go, mark!

(SLAP IN THE FACE) You guys trying to prove me wrong and just plain being a*sholes, no one like ppl like that.(heads Up)
Fair enough man....sorry for coming off as inappropriate. I took an immature approach to posting in this thread back then....I'll admit to that one.
This is not meant to be a flame....but simply responding to your issue of other drivers flashing you as if you had highs on. You can choose to ignore it and continue to drive with the lights...but I'm putting it out there so you're atleast aware of why people are flashing their lights.
But, if you're ever wondering why people are flashing you like you have your high beams on.....the simple answer is that with the drop-in HID kit in a halogen reflector.....you basically ARE driving around with your high beams on. High beams work because they reflect the light at a higher angle than the low beams to shine light further ahead and higher up. The light being shined higher up is disturbing the oncoming drivers.....which is why it's customary for people to flash you to let you know that you left your high beams on and that its hurting their eyes. With HID bulbs in the stock halogen reflector, the different shaped HID bulb is reflected in a whole new way and a lot of its light is scattered upwards where the high beams would often be shining light. So you are basically driving around distributing light in a high-beam fashion....hence, the other drivers flashing at you. This is why it's important to use the correct HID reflectors or better yet, projectors.
There are scientific tests where the DOT and other country's organzations tested the scatter of these bulbs in stock halogen reflectors and they found that it bothered oncoming drivers.....this isn't just something I'm making up to tease you.

I think for many people.....it's not really that it's not their cup of tea....it's that he is creating a dangerous (and illegal) environment on public streets. It probably wasn't stated in a mature enough manner....but it all boils down to the dangers, not just the fact that he did something different. Just trying to better explain where the other side is coming from....not looking to start this argument back up.
