like 'totalled it' in a crash written off, or like for your 'taxes' written off?
Confused (like always;-)

Considering he said lucky, I'd assume he means tax wise...

Was he from the UK? If he's on Mini2 and talking about a write-off I'd definitely assume that he means totalled as people in the UK don't file taxes etc the way the US does.

Insurance write off = totalled

Cost to repair is in excess of the vehicles value

someone find out it's number and make a note of it. 10 bucks says you will see it re-appear one day, with clean title.

Yep - I bought a 1995 Honda in 1998 that I found out later had been totalled in Massachusetts, only to end up in Virginia with a clean title. It had struck a parked car, resulting in a lot of front-end damage.

Funny thing is, it ended up being one of the best cars I've ever owned - no alignment/tire wear problems, nothing leaked, no corrosion issues, etcetera.

Had I known at the time about its history, I probably wouldn't have bought it, but I'm glad I did.

First, people can't handle the Ferrari Enzo and keep crashing them. Next, the MINI GP.

Well.... I certainly hope not.
