New Tires for GP

Had my first experience of driving the GP at speed in the rain on twisty backroads this weekend. I'm ditching the stock tires pronto, current thoughts are to keep the original wheels and tires together, and go for a lighter set of wheels and (much) higher performance (non-runflat) tires.

Should I stick with the 205/40 or should I go with 215/35 (yes, I'm staying in 18" wheel).

Your thoughts?

215:35s will nock your teeth out!

I ran 215-40s on some 17s and that was rough. I liked it for the track, but for the street, a 215-45 is nice... I can't imagine what a 35 would be like. If you have rough roads at all, I'd worry.....

But for a "all season" performance tire I really like the Goodyear F1 GS3Ds. While they are pretty heavy, and aren't as crisp at initial turn in as some others, boy do they stick in the wet! I live where damp turns in the hills can be found even in summer, so it's an excellent tire for where I live.

I second the Good Doctor's motion. 215/40-18.
