Is a TSB required for warranty work?

Just curious here...I have the 'Chewy' clutch squeal issue which I've reported in another thread and since I have a week off I decided to begin the process of having it dealt with. Of course they have to "look at it" and the SA mentioned needing to check if there's a TSB for the condition. I've searched this Site but have not found the "official" TSB number here. Is there one? It sure seems like it has been dealt with for everyone who had it, but these days with the shaky condition of the all Auto makers, one can never be sure if they are changing the rules.

Guess I'll find out, but if anyone does have the TSB number for this I'd love to have it...for ammo at least.

This was all I could find at a site I use. But I was also under the impression that the BMW computers were linked to known TSB's and then could be looked up at the dealer ?

Since that sound is often associated with a failed/stuck dual mass flywheel, I don't think you should have too much of an issue. A few posts have attributed it to a glazed flywheel, but the credible posters like helix, etc says it is the dual mass weights sticking. Quite a few owners from threads I have seen have gotten new clutches/flywheels. I think they were looking for a TSB because if it is a common problem, it provides them with the corrective action...so it makes trouble shooting eassier. A TSB is not needed to get something fixed....a TSB is issued if enough cars have the same problem to make it eassier/more effecient to trouble shoot and fix.
