I'm running 215/40/18 on my GP, Nitto Neo Gen, and there is no problem with rubbing and the ride is great.

Do a search on run flats -- not many people like them. Very bad reputation for ride quality.

Nitto NeoGen 215/40-15-Not very many Options

These tires and size are probably your best bet, there are not very many options for 18x7 52ET wheels

I went with 215/40x18 Toyo T1R non-runflat tires. Much better ride and performance than the stock run-flats. I do carry a plug kit, Slime, and small air compressor but I have never used them in 7 years and 100,00 miles of driving Minis. I also have a premium AAA card with towing up 100 miles.

I did have a Mini tire get a slow leak and the tire light went off after about a minute of driving in the morning so I just returned home to put air in the tire and was able to drive to a tire shop for a repair. The tire had lost air during the night due to a nail in the tire.

The last time a had a flat while driving was 25 years ago when a ran over something that tore the tire sidewall. Luckily, I did have a spare in that car.
As has been stated there are not a lot of options but take a look at Tirerack and Treadepot for options. My local tire store can usually get whatever I want from their distributor for a little more than the online pricing.

Thanks everyone! I feel inclined to move away from the runflats now qucki! I will consider the limited options we have for the GP rims. Peace!

I am a little confused by the wording in your post but I would guess you are asking if the tires from a 2008 MCS will fit the GP wheels. It depends on what size wheels/tires are on that 2008 MCS. My guess would be that the 2008 MCS has 17" wheels/tires so no they will not fit the 18" wheels on the GP.

If you are asking if a wheel/tire combination from a 2008 MCS could be used on a GP to replace the original GP wheel/tire combination, that should be possible because the 2008 MCS has the same front brakes and lug bolt diameter as the GP so the wheels/tires should fit.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 All season tires on my GP 215/35/18. I just got back from the Tail of the Dragon and they performed flawlessly. They actually fit quite good and look great.

I removed my runflats and installed non run flats - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus in 205-45-17. I really like these tires and they have a 45k prorated tread warranty. Great ride, low noise, quick turn in, good wet and dry grip. Check out the reviews at www.tirerack.com Make sure you look at the PLUS as it is a different tire than the Pilot Sprt A/S (without the PLUS). I carry a plug kit, compressor and sealant in the boot.

Just got back from VIR. I got myself a set of track wheels and tires. I went with the New OZ Allegerita 17's and Bridgestone RE11's 215/45/17. They look great on the car. and performed magnificently except my drivers side rear was rubbing a wee bit when compressed.

Why not 215/40-17? Might be a better size, it would give you no rubbing issues, and better gearing compared to a 45 series tire. I wanted the Kumho XS but it only comes in 215/45-17. Tire Rack has a few:
Dunlop Star Spec for $111 at 23.8 diameter
Yokohama AD08 for $166 at 23.7 diameter
Hankook RS-2 for $75 at 23.8 diameter
I love those OZ OZ Allegerita though!
