You can try adjusting the rubber stops on the door.

Trunk Slamming?
Close it gently, maybe?

I try to close gently or with a gentle push but am getting the warning light that it is open. Have to almost 'slam' it to get it to shut.

you can adjust the rubber bumpers? will look at that.

You can twist the rubber bumpers to adjust but it probably will not help much. I have the same problem on my GP and I had the same problem on my 2003 MCS. Sometimes it takes multiple slams to get it to close. I played around with the rubber bumbers on my 2003 MCS with no real improvement.

The rubber bumper adjustment worked for me on both my '03 and my '07.

If the bumper (located on the door, not the body) adjustment doesn't work check with your dealer about a TSB to fix this issue. They changed the latch hoop to make it easier to latch for some.

the GP slam

It would be great if there is a TSB that fixes the "GP slam" issue. All the GP owners I know have the same situation I find, which is that it requires a special "firm hand" (or "slam") to close the GP hatch. This is unique to the GP, versus other MCS variations. If anybody has any additional or more current news on this subject, I'd love to know (especially if I need to get it done under the 48K warranty, since I just passed 46K on my GP).

I do not believe this problem is not unique to the GP. My 03 MCS closed exactly the same way.

Supposedly there is a TSB, its the latch thats the issue, dealer is replacing mine, cause I told them it rattles.

I had the same problem with both my JCW and my GP. Dealer fixed both of them.
