you'd be hardpressed to measure a difference with 9lb vs 12lb 15's unless it's a 110hp Cooper. With 200+ in any car, 3lbs won't make the difference. Don't forget....99% driver, 1% equipment. I'm sure running wheels that weighed 1lb each wouldn't make me any faster.

If I had my druthers, I'd..........

I'm going to do some track days this year with my GP, and would love to get a set of Montegi Track Lites in all anthracite, 16 or 17" with some track-friendly tires like the Falken Azenis or the Hoosier R6 compound near slicks, in 205/40ZR17 and use the stock wheels/tires if it rains.

Unfortunately, I can't quite budget the extra money to go for it right now. 'Course, I may change my mind and just pay off the debt over time..... shoot me now.

Falkens for GP?

You can run either on the street full time, but the Hankooks are probably better suited to your area given the additional moisture over Southern California .
PS: GP!
What size Falken Azenis are you running on the GP wheel? I wanten them but not the right size?

I seen several GP owners from CA run 215/40-18 Nittos. Are these good?

Yes pictures please, I want to see what they are going to look like on my GP. I ordered a set this morning of the Traklite 2's with the new pirelli pzero nero tyres, the traklite 2's are now on back order so I wont get mine till the end of next week.

I'm in the same boat, wanting a set of tires/wheels for my GP for trackdays and autocross. But on top of all this fun, I'm a cheap bastard. What's the best value in wheel/tire combos for autocross?

(Pick from Sunday's BMW autocross at Monster Park...)

for auto-x -Toyo R1R, for track - R888 with a Rota, Konig or Team Dynamics 15" wheel (Pro Race 1.2 in 15x7ET38 clears the JCW brakes just fine). Less than $1k for a mounted set. www.good-win-racing.com can set you up...Miata guys, but they can get the larger center bore apps for the MINI as well.

Here's my set of TDR's with shaved and heat cycled A048's:
