Wow! Too bad. But that's a great photo and what a spectacular way to go out. In December, I lost my '02 in quite a collision, but soon became aware of a silver lining. Insurance gave me 85% of the purchase price.....very good news. Then I learned Mini had noticably improved the build and performance quality as of '05. If you decide to get into an '06 you'll wonder why you hadn't done it already. It's just better and you'll be really happy about it.....like I am.

I do have one question.

I have ordered 'Monty', as I'm calling him, and am scheduled for delivery on 5/19. However...

I have ordered a color scheme that I have never seen anyone post on any boards. It's starting to make me nervous that I've chosen something that I'm gonna take one look at and go 'ewwwww!'

I don't think so...but I'm still nervous.

It's Dark Silver (of course), with a Pure Silver roof and Silver Bonnet stripes. Not aftermarket stripes, the ones you get from the factory that form a "U" shape around the air intake.

Has anyone else seen this combination anywhere else?

Yeah, I know of 2 other, and one of them will be RallyMINI's.

I wanted that color combo SO bad, i talked Rally into getting it for himself, so I can enjoy it too!!!

I really wanted that too.. but couldn't quite go with the light silver roof on dark silver body. i really wanted the light silver "U" stripes, tough...

Not to worry - the combintation looks terrific , IMO - and I get a lots of postive comments about mine. These aren't many Dark Silver/Pure Silver cars, as you've discovered. The silver bonnet stripes are only available in the 'u' shape style - ala Checkmate. See attachments.

I just got back from my dealership this afternoon, and that exact combination (except with flame spoke 17s) was sitting in front of the office. It looks great, I would be very satisfied.

On the more extreme side I've also considered chrome bonnet stripes. Kind of hesitant about that one, though.

 

Yeah, I have considered a gaggle of chrome doodads for my car since I really like the chrome look, but I thought chrome stripes would be a bit much for me. Black stripes with chrome outline would look good, I think. There are all sorts of chrome swap-outs you can do on the cars, a couple of eBay sellers seem to specialize in it. I think as far as I would go, though, might just be the chrome washer jets.

A buddy of mine that I work with used to have a carbon fibre intake and it looked really nice on his indy blue. I think it would look pretty sharp on a DS.

I don't know about putting the badge on the MINI... I have trouble putting anything on the MINI, but I'd still pick up one!
