I don't see why not? I just don't understand why the Jet Black people have to come in here and stir up all the ruckis.

May have to call J and K and have them use the memmory messupper thingy on a few Jet Black fans.

Astro Black fans/owners: Please don't go and hyjack some other color's thread. set the example!

NO regrets

dgboggs

You say my car looks like a** you are a jerk.

I for one think all the colors are wonderful. Even if someone had an iridescent one (there is a classic in Winnipeg that is!) it's still a wicked self expression.

Go home to your Jet Black thread. Shoo now.

Here she is...I picked Roxy up on Wednesday and she is GORGEOUS! I haven't seen a photograph yet that does the Astro Black color justice, but here are a couple I took this morning.

I ordered the AB/W because the Jet Blk looked too inky and smooth. After a few weeks the paint swirls would be KILLING me... I can already see some on Boggs' car... tisk tisk..

My MINI says "MIDNIGHT BLACK METALLIC" on the plate under the hood. Does everyone's say that? Even the Cosmos owners? I rather like the name "Midnight Black Metallic"... Astro makes me think of the Jetsons.

i could be wrong here, as i don't know for sure, but didn't Astro only become available in '06?

Actually, Astro black became MANDITORY in '06!

A brief, and perhaps slightly inaccurate, history...

It was avail in earlier years as Cosmos black, but not on the "S"... the taken out for a year or so in '04, then brought back in for the Cooper for '05, now introduced for the "S" in '06.

Check me if I'm wrong, please.

well i can correct you on one thing...Astro Black isn't manditory, otherwise everyone would have one ...but it is the ONLY Black option in '06

But your's doesn't have a blue-ish tint to it, does it? Is it really Astro Black.

Mine does too. It also said that on the lading slip from shipping that was still in the car (I got ot see it stickers and all right off the boat/train!)

I like "Midnight Black" metalic as a name better then "Astro" black too.

Steam and other ?

OK, got home today after driving in a little bit of snow & slush, there's steam coming from the front grill. Not much, and it stopped after car cooled. Normal? Second, the open scoop for the supercharger has me wondering, should it be screened off? Just asking.....

Off topic, but...

Steam is fine and normal. Things get hot under there.
There are more threads for "S" owners that deal with the potential hazards of an air scoop (squirrels, etc.). Some have some mesh there, others don't worry about it and put on bigger scoops. It's an "S" thing, apparently.

Saakey-

My MINI does have a SLIGHT bluish tint to it, but mostly it looks VERY black.
Most people talk a lot about the blue tint on their cars, but I don't see it too much on mine except in direct sunlight at the exact right angle.

Storytime, now:
I walked straight up to it one day downtown, not knowing it was my car (the girlfriend had her that day and snuck past my work) but, thinking it was my MINI's exact twin. "Same options, stripes, oh, but it's Jet Black...", I said to myself, inspecting the paint up close. Then I walked around the back and noticed the stickers and felt embarassed I couldn't even recognize my own family. It was overcast that day (rare in Denver) so I couldn't get that sun sparkle, and she was sort of dirty, further blocking the sparkle.

I wonder if they changed the color from '05-'06? If it's midnight black metallic, then I guess not. I can't Imagine having any other color. She's like a sexy formal tuxedo. Classy.

After seeing Astro Black in person. I can see why "Midnight Black Metalic"
would be more appropriate.

Why they can't say "Silver-Black-Blue Colorchange" is beyond me?

I thought I was being funny, not uhh, inflammatory. My pun wasn't perhaps the best

But, it was fun

Oh, and if you know what you're doing, and you're any good at buffing, swirl marks are inexcusable and amatuer

I agree, but I think that Mini wanted to avoid this name, as it's pretty common across the industry

No harm, and your car look nice, too.
