Anyone Weld AN Fittings on Aluminum MINI Parts (Tanks, Valve Covers, etc.)?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to weld some AN fittings onto an aluminum catch can and possibly a valve cover for my R56 build. I know some of you have done custom setups, especially those who’ve had to weld on AN fittings for oil or coolant routing.

I’ll be TIG welding 6061 and want to avoid leaks or warping. What prep, filler rod, or precautions should I take, especially for MINI-specific parts? Would love to hear from anyone who's done this on their builds. Pics of your setup would be awesome too.

Appreciate any advice before I fire up the welder!
