Starting Car after long term storage?
Starting Car after long term storage?
I am going to be getting my R52S out of storage for the summer season soon and want to get some best practice advice on starting up and driving a car that has been in storage for months. In past years I have just reinstalled the battery, started it up, and went upon my merry way. As I think I about doing the same this year I got to wondering if I should be doing more. The car has been stored in an unheated garage and has not been run since put away. When putting it away I clean it, top up the gas and add stabilizer, and take out the battery. Thanks
Connect battery and check out engine, oil and belts. Then get in car and start, let warm up to temp, check tire pressure and make sure the brakes did not stick to the rotors. Go on a short drive and drive back and inspect. You should be good. The short drive should knock all the rust of the rotors. I do this with my R52 every year.
