Stage 2 upgrade question
What are your emissions testing requirements for Texas? OBD scan only, or is a sniffer test involved? If OBD scan only, it “should” pass, but really depends on how the tune is configured to handle the O2 sensors. You should pose that question to any tuner under consideration.
For what it’s worth, I have a stage 2 tune by @Lou@Prototype-R and I live in New York State. I have a catless down pipe. Our emissions testing is only concerned with an OBD scan, and I have passed every year with this tune. All OBD parameters for the emission test show good. Previous to this tune, I had a Manic stage 2, which worked slightly different. It had the post cat O2 sensor in a constant state of “Pending”. New York, and my previous state of Connecticut, allowed one monitor to be “Pending” so I still passed, but I never really liked that setting.
Bottom line, you need to know what your state allows, and how the tune will be configured.
