Newministuff.com still active hk enabler? - YES!
Hi All,
in Canada, looking to get the HK enabler for 2006 r52 mcs with mfsw to Sony (top of my list presently) head unit.
they have them on the newministuff website but getting no reply phone/email. Hard to tell from the site & Last FB post is years old. So wondering if it’s still active.
I saw some posts here that they are slow to respond/ship from a 2020/2021. Anyone ordered in the past few months. Or recommend a NA site selling the hk enabler?
Newministuff.com has the hk kit/m, mfsw adapter and the facia adapter. Other sites seem to have the adapter only but also high shipping costs to Canada while Newministuff has reasonable shipping.
cheers.

To anyone reading this. As of Aug/Sep 2023 newministuff.com is still in business.
A little google map sleuthing led me to see the shop front where new mini stuff is one of many signs, a subsidiary of the main business “Formby Car Electrical” which has google reviews as of 2mo ago.
I reached out this morning and had a reply from Mike within the hour, confirming the site is still active and they have stock. I’ve since ordered a HK enabler from newministuff.com. You may assume all went well unless I report back to the contrary.

hey, HK = Harman Kardon
The enabler makes an aftermarket head unit play nice with the Harman Kardon amp.
In simple terms anyone with the factory radio upgrade has Harmen Kardon amp. Which is decent. But if you want to upgrade the head unit you face an issue that the amp deals in a-typical 2ohm impedance. Most after market units Sony/pioneer etc use 4ohms. The enabler makes an aftermarket head unit play nice with the Harman Kardon amp. I think boat audio systems might often use 2ohms.
Any gen 1 mini with HK would need this. Ironically non HK minis would not as the standard stereo and speakers are in typical 4ohms. I’m not sure what the situation is for gen2+ with HKs.
If interested there’s loads of more in-depth knowledge on this site, you’ll find it in the audio forum section.
anyway I’m chasing Bluetooth playback and calls through the speakers, hence need a new head unit. I’ve tried using the built in 30pin apple iPod with various Bluetooth dongles and it’s inconsistent at best. Just want my podcasts for long drives!!! Some people bypass the hk amp, but that’s a bigger job and more $$ than I’m looking for.
I’ve decided to go with Sony as it checks all the boxes and I have found out that call answering can be remapped to long pressing volume buttons on the mfsw.m, plus the lighting
colours can be made to match the classic mini orange
