General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
My JCW came with 18” wheels and summer performance tires, so I wanted to change out wheels and tires for the bad weather months and related pot holes. I wanted 17” wheels, and I opted for Bola VST 17x7.5 and used Michelin Pilot Allseason 4 which I had from my Miata. Bola’s customer service was also top-notch. Performance wise the change is great with a nicer ride and better feel than the runflats. I also like the look of a gunmetal finish, versus black or silver. The downside is the 40 ET. The wheels sit further out, closer to flush. While they look good, I didn’t account for the amount of debris coming up from the wheels. The sides of the car get a lot of spray with rain and puddles. I can imagine what it will look like when winter comes.
I looked at the Mini oem mud flaps which don’t show up as a 2023 item. The fronts will fit, but they are tiny and I am not sure they will make a difference. The rear don’t fit at all. The aftermarket one seem less attractive and flimsy. Any thoughts on what might work? I actually regret changing the wheels, knowing the constant spray on the sides will annoy me.
