Replace church or Sell?
Replace clutch or Sell?
I have a 2007 Mini hardtop with 99K miles on it. Obviously doesn't get as many miles but I've had it for 15 years and am attached to it.
The clutch needs replacing. Which has me wondering if it's time to sell the car or spend more equivalent of what the car is worth on getting clutch replaced. What do other owners think?
Still love the car, except it's gotten loud inside over the years.

Can you do the work yourself, or would you have to pay a shop? If you have to pay a mechanic to do the work, you’re looking at $1500-2000 just for a stock clutch and flywheel replacement. Considering what car payments are going for these days, the payback for the clutch job would be about a year of new car payments. Would you plan on keeping the car for two more years after the work?
I say have it fixed and drive it with a big dumb grin on your face, as I do in my 2007. It has 75K on the clock and I bought it for 5K, then put nearly 6K into it. I contend that MINIs are not like boring normie cars so the conventional wisdom regarding their cost to maintain do not apply to a car with so much character. No other car is as much fun to drive except for a Miata or a 911.
