We like ours. They are actually analog disguised as digital. The tach is a needle that rotates.
I do think they could give us more options for what appears in the middle. We don't really need the digital speed when it appears in the heads-up display right above it. Rather have the option of other data, a map or something.
I have a 2020 with Heads-up display and non-digital dash. The loaner cars they give me all pretty much have the new digital gauge package. If I didn't have the HUD I would prefer the digital display. With HUD i prefer the old gauge style. If they give us the option to change gauge locations within the digital display it becomes a real winner.
I have a 2017 JCW with HUD and a 20121 SE with the digital display and HUD. Aesthetically I prefer the analog gauges in the 2017, but the digital display is very nice and legible. On the SE, about the only thing the HUD is useful for is navigation, which is much better than navigation on the 2017. On the 2017 JCW, the HUD has some nice performance functions such as tach and shift indicators.
When we ordered our 2022 Clubman I was disappointed it had the digital instrument cluster. Once the car came it, I thought it was great. Until the first time I put on a pair of polarized sunglasses. (I also lost 1/2 the center display with those sun glasses).
Switched to a pair of Ray-Ban Aviators: Happy now!
