Weird noises, strange smells, and broken electronics?

My car has started making a loud knocking sound when at idle it gets worse if it's in neutral. When going above 60mph in 6th gear can smell burning cant figure out where it's coming from. My driver side window has stopped working all together I've tried percussive maintenance above the speaker and I've taken the panel off 3 times and cant figure out what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you scanned the codes?
the knocking isn’t great, but it’s hard to say what anything is without codes.
Does the burning smell, well, smell like it’s electrical or something else?

Hmmm, that is odd. No wonder it’s confusing. it’s going to take someone smarter than I to figure out.
but “percussive maintenance” I loved that!

Welcome to NAM!

If you are going to ask for help, there's a couple of important bits of information necessary before any advice beyond "scan the codes" can be provided.

What model?
What year?
How Many miles?
Any codes?

The members here know a lot about MINIs and I have seen some amazing feats of remote diagnosis, but we're not mind readers. Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 cars are very different. And every now and then a BMW owner gets lost and shows up here looking for help. So help us out, and the members here will do their best to help you.
