The dicey situation in the Brexit negotiation between UK and EU is sending tremor thought out the auto industry. The car makers are warning the dire consequence should there be an disorderly exit. Many are caught between a rock and a hard place unable to take preparation steps. BMW might move Mini production from UK to the Netherlands. The lack of clarity has put Jaguar's electric car investment plan in limbo.

A lot of auto industry news today. VW Group just terminated the contract with Audi's CEO who is currently under criminal investigation related to the diesel emission cheat including tempering evidence.

On another note,
it'd be great if BMW resurrected the DAF marque and returned to making non-bloated retro-modern small cars!

 

I'd be buying a newly minted BMW 2002 the day it showed up at the dealership. Possibly my favorite car although I never owned one. Didn't get a BMW until the early 80's with a 3 series sport model with Recaro Seats. That was a winner as well.

MINIs will be made wherever it is most cost effective. Netherlands, China, etc. Crazy tariff situations and maybe they will be making them at the BMW plant in the USA.

 

The F56, F57 (exclusively), and F60 are already produced in the Netherlands, so maybe this is just MINI considering shifting more production there?

 

I'm still stuck on DAF.

Those 3 lug wheels are rather strange...



...but DAF was certainly oddball anyways.

However,
they are credited with creating the first commercially successful CVT,
the Variomatic transmission.
And it also looks strange!
