Cross Country Trip Experience with F57 Mini
Just returned from a 3 week, 4700mi. trip to Las Vegas and back and I have to report that this little car is growing on me. From a low 27mpg to a high of 48mpg and with cruising speeds on I-70/I-90 up to 90mph(38mpg), this thing gets better fuel economy than my CanAm Spyder did and is waaay more comfortable! Did not encounter one issue with the vehicle(oil still at MAX level, coolant at MIN level, all systems OK, etc.). So all in all, VERY pleased with the experience. If the vehicle turns out to be reliable and dependable as the others I have owned, I will be glad I made the investment for the wife. Happy Motoring! Mac

Yup, this was a "Grandkid(s)" visit along with checking out areas to move to. Ours has 6500mi. on the clock now and nothing drips on the garage floor yet and we ran her pretty hard in the mountains and on the Interstates. I don't know how the 1.5L will do with the 80mph speed limits, but the 2.0L did quite well. Good luck and be safe! P.S. drink plenty of H2o when out in Vegas, we had 115+ temps when we were there. I went from near Nashville TN to Geneva OH for my yearly reunion with my Vietnam Vets I served with and cruised at 75 as much as I could and it didn't bother it at all. I hand calculated the mpg and wasn't sure if I could trust it when it said 35 mpg. But this trip will tell me all the truths.
I came from SoCal to here when I retired and remember the temps. This year it's a bit hotter than normal back there. And I do agree to hydrate. I usually use beer when there. It great to have kids old enough to do what I need .. instead of me doing it all.
I'm finally able to drive my mini since after I bought it, my wife had her left knee replaced and couldn't get in the car. Now she can and we're making up for lost time. Like Willie sings "On The Road Again .... "

This was the first high mileage trip we took in this car. I had a severely broken right leg back in '13 and have had left foot surgery and wear a brace. Soooo didn't know how I would fare, but comfort was very good for the wife and I (500-600mi. days). I hung up my helmet in June after 51yrs. of riding M/C's, and the wife has always wanted a two door, convertible sports car if we ever gave up our touring bike(s). So far it has worked out great. Have fun on your trip! Mac
