Are they better?

I had a 2008 MCS for several years and I loved the drive but I absolutely hated all the little buzzes and squeaks in the cheap plastic interior. Are they better now? I am loving the F56 and the interior looks amazing...is it? I'm beginning to think about an '18 MCS.

Also, are the '18 much different than the 2017?

I have a 2009 Clubman S and a 2017 F56 JCW. They are very different cars and I really like both of them. The F56 is a very different beast. It is much more refined, but still has plenty of the MINI DNA.

So far (six months) the F56 is tight and has no rattles ... and that's with the NM 25mm rear sway bar. It is a very well built car. You will not be disappointed.

My 2014 F56 had a lot of rattles/squeaks as it was one of the early production run cars. They are mostly gone now.

Our 2016 F55 is mostly quiet with an occasional buzz which could be related to items in the car, wife isn't as concerned with the noises.

2011 Countryman a noisy thing it is.

Not a single rattle, squeak or unexpected noise in either of our 2017 F54s.
