Code Scanner - What to buy? Recommendations?

I'm looking to purchase a code scanner that will either plug in like the FIXD scanner with use of an App or a stand alone scanner, and something that won't break the bank. I'll be using this for an R50, R53 and an R56. I was just wondering what you all might be using. Thanks!

I have been using the Schwaben tool for all my work. I like it as its easy to use on finding things like which corner ABS sensor is bad or what the fault history looked like on a MINI I just bought.

I went the cheap route and bought a bluetooth OBD2 adapter from amazon for about $20 and the Torque app for my smartphone for $5. It's helped diagnose a fuel level sensor code and works on any car, not just MINIs. The codes might not be as descriptive as the MINI specific tools but so far it's worked well enough for me.

I use the Schwaben that I got from ECSTuning. There are tons of things you can do besides looking at codes. Lots of diagnostic menus for testing. Luckily, I've not had any problems with my R53, but just in case, I'm prepared......
