Lightweight Battery Choices

I don't seem to see much info on the forum or from vendors regarding this

I have an STX prepped autocross Mini that is used a few times during the week and of course for weekend competition.

Any recommendations for a lightweight battery that won't require being charged every time?

Braille makes nice ones that can drop right in and have stock like capacity with much lower weight. They're pricy though. You can probably get away with an Odyssey or one of the medium sized AGM Brailles if your budget doesn't have room for like $1000 or more on a battery. An Odyssey pc925 should work if you don't need your car to sit for long periods without a tender. The Rennline mount might even be usable depending on the model of MINI you've got. There are similar mounts for some Brailles for BMW applications as well, which might be usable.

Thanks Matt. I ended up with an Optima.

PC925 was a close 2nd but for 5 pounds I didn't want to risk 330CCA at the Dragon.

Went with an Optima slightly smaller than the one suggested for our car. Sheds 8 pounds and was cheap; $152 shipped

Hard to go wrong with that. I did the same thing with my last car. You can shave off 8-10lb without much capacity loss at all with an Optima!
