60,000 Miles Service
60,000 Miles Service
Hello people
My 2013 R56S is fast approaching 60K. Next Week I'm going to take it to the MINI dealer for an oil change which is covered under extended maintenance. They did breaks last time I was there.
Other than the oil change, what services should I look into for preventive care for my baby? I was thinking of changing the spark plugs as this is something I can do myself (I don't have a drive way or garage sadly for other work). Should I have them check fluid levels or perform any fluid flushes/change
?
Any preventive care tips are welcomed.
Thanks
Guillo

We have a 2012 MCS approaching 60k miles. Have been wondering the same thing. Will crack open the manual and look it up. Ours is an auto trans, so I'll probably have the trans fluid changed and a coolant flush and refill. So far in the last year have replaced brakes all 4 corners and replaced the battery. Oil and filter changes I have done every 5k miles..
Guillo, plugs are a good DIY idea. The key will tell the dealer whether to flush brake fluid, they might have done it when they serviced the pads, good to ask.
Azdsrt, I recommend a 2.5 qt drain/fill of the auto tranny fluid with full synthetic every 10k (every other oil change). Assuming you have never changed it, you're way overdue. With no fluid changes the tranny doesn't seem to last past 80k. It's not your fault if you didn't know, the dealer says to never change it which is ridiculous. But you end up getting stuck with the repair bill.

I would assume Dealers would want to make money. Also I'd also would like to do 5k oil changes as I always do with all my Ford trucks which are good running with 200k mile on both.
Could you imply you want to do it even at their exorbitant pricing? hmmm, if not being to do oil changes myself, Would I/you trust a FastLube/JiffyLube franchise to do it? They are our local engine/transmission oil change shops here

Coolant, brake, gear box flush, should be replacing the second serpentine belt by now. They're good for about 35K or so. A thorough inspection of undercarriage bushings, ball joints and etc and measure the brake pads...and anything else others can think of to keep it going another 100K.
The MCS has a 60k spark plug change interval, if you have the extended maintenance plan that should be covered so ask them to do that at the same time. Brake fluid flush is every 2 years and oil changes every 5k or 6 months for me. Coolant flush is recommended every year, if I'm not mistaken, but I'm not sure.
^^ Belt, Plugs, coils (if the boots are worn/cracked), Air filter, cabin filter, check the brakes, trans fluid if you want (i did mine at 100K), wipers if they have not been done. Coolant. That's the major ones. Also, check the thermostat housing and make sure you have the metal water pump version 2013 ish was the year they started changing those.
