Newbie needs some help

SO I have 110K on my 2006 MCS convertible auto. I have what I believe is power steering pump that is done. To me it seems kind of hard to steer, but I thought nothing of it until I let three other people drive it...to which they all made a comment on how hard it was to steer(they also thought it was a characteristic of the mini, as did I). I can say that if I turn the wheel full turn until it stops with the headlights on, they will dim(if that means anything I have no idea). It also seems that with the car not running and turning the wheel it is a little stiffer than with it running. Since this is my first mini I can't tell if the pump is running or not. Anyone have any troubleshooting ideas for me before I purchase a new one?

Also, if it is shot, is there a recommended replacement? I was looking at cheapest ebay ones, but I am not sure if i should stay away from them.

Cheers!

You can have your battery load tested. A weak battery can make weak power steering.

Also there has been many recalls and extended warranties on the power steering pumps so contact your local dealer and see if you're covered as that would be the cheapest out.

I would avoid Ebay or rebuilt pumps as we seem to always be taking them back out after they've been installed

I tried my vin on the recall website and I am not covered apperently. Funny you replied I was just putting a list together on your website for parts.

I will get the battery load tested tomorrow... I did notice that It drops to around 11.6v over night.

Thank you!
