Sunroof Shading?

I haven't had the opportunity to fully check out the sunroof yet. After all, it's cool and very wet here in BC. A question i've been pondering is, does the 'shade cloth' in the sunroof work good for decreasing heat gain? Or, would a different type be more appropriate? I am going to be putting up tinting (don't know which % yet), so that would help. If it doesn't work so good, would putting a big decal help (Union Jack?)
Thanks, Gary

We had limo tint added to ours. Here in Phoenix, was needed. I would think in BC, not so much..

Nope. Im limo tinting my roof glass soon as well. Those shades are really flimsy too so it will keep me from messing with it a lot.

Well, it does get a wee bit warm here in the summer, but probably nothing like Arizona!
So, do you think tinting is the way to go on the sunroof? Or, would a decal suffice? Thanks

I've tinted them before and it works, but if you do use a ceramic as it will block out more heat.
Otherwise the Zippee Shades work great

Another advocate for tinting the sunroof glass here. That's one of the first things I did (5% limo tint), and have been grateful ever since.

I put a perforated Union Jack on my sunroof, it is the same material that they use for the see through ads on bus windows. The sign shop that installed it said it lets 25% of light through. I haven't used the shade since.

I use the zippeeshades. They stick to the sunroof by suction cup.

When I want a bit of light through, I can remove the zippee shade.

In BC, the perforated roll up shade build into our MINIs, are fine but my wife complains it lets too much light in during the summer months. Especially when we travel south.

I find, for the most part, I only use the zippee shade on those rare very hot bright days.
But those are also the days I tend to open my sunroof.

I just vinyl wrapped it from the inside. It was a pain to do it myself but it was worth it.

Thanks all. It seems like Zippeeshades are the way to go.

I tinted my old R53 with 5 percent limo over the factory tint. It was awesome. I don't know if I will do that again on my Paceman. I might do the windows.
