Oil filter housing gaskets

Need help right away, I got a 2009 mini I just change the oil pan at the dealer and was advised that I need a new housin, I notice as 3 days ago that I'm leaking oil so I call mini and they want to charge me $680 now can someone please tell me how serious is this and if I can get away with driving the car like that I just don't have that kind of $$$ since I just blow $500 and the oil pan.Plaese help.

They said the oil filter housing gasket was leaking oil? Did they determine the oil pan was for sure leaking? Surprised they didn't catch this oil leak while it was in. The oil filter housing gasket can be purchased HERE. Is it a Cooper S or a Base Cooper? If it's an S, at the link to the part, click on the tab at the top that says "tech info" and then select the R56 articles. Under Engine there is an oil filter housing gasket replacement that can help you if you're DIY savvy. Otherwise, I'd suggest finding a local MINI indy shop (not the dealer). You can search for one in your area HERE. They will charge you way less than the dealer. For oil leaks, depending on if it's aggressive, I wouldn't leave it unfixed for long. Keep an eye on your oil level as well.

Thank you for your info I already find a shop near by and the price is way lower buy still quite a bit of $$$

What gasket, Cooper or Cooper S and what year ? Just wanted to make sure you get the correct ones replaced.
