General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
So, this past week about an hour after arriving home, I returned to the garage only to find a trail of blue liquid running out from under the front bumper. First thought was "Oh no, a leaking radiator, thermostat or hose!" I opened the hood, grabbed a flashlight, and checked what I could see from above. Everything looked good -- no sign of a leak. I then jacked the car up and looked at the bottom half of the engine. Again, nothing that would suggest a coolant leak. Expansion reservoir contents were at the proper level.
So what was this blue liquid?
After pondering the question, it hit me that I had ran the windshield washers just before entering the garage, and this blue "coolant" I saw, the exact same shade of blue as the MINI branded coolant I use, was in actuality, blue windshield washer fluid runoff...
A sigh of relief was exhaled, I closed the bonnet, and had a chuckle knowing that all was still well with the MINI, and thought that maybe there's a reason that the other coolant companies choose to go with the fluorescent green color for their product.
