What is this training fee?
That is my guess as well. They should give you a sheet of all the different things they can program your car/key fob to do and let you choose how you want it done. Anytime there after they will charge you that $100 fee regardless of how much or little your changing it.. That used to be free for the 1st time as you bought your car.. and it only takes a couple of minutes. probably the best profit margin of anything they have at that rate..
I'd rather they not get the money and I will take it to Way Motor Works and get it done. As I recall, Way reprogrammed my other MINIs with additional stuff that MINI didn't offer for some reason. So why pay twice?
"required option" is an oxymoron. They should fold the fee into the base price. They are trying to make the base price look lower than it actually is, then nickel and dime buyers to boost the final price.
