What would you do?

Here's my situation. I recently ordered a 3 pack of OEM oil filters from Coopersport.com (http://www.coopersport.com/55/FIL/). When the order was delivered it turned out to be 2 OEM filters and 1 Mann filter (without crush gasket). These filters look nothing alike but after corresponding with Coopersport, they said that the Mann are an OEM supplier and would be sending me gaskets to make up for the missing ones. I have heard of stories that advise against anything but OEM oil filters. Are the Mann filters as good as the OEM or should I return the whole order?

The only stories indicating that you must use only the OEM brand filter are from the service departments of MINI dealers seeking to maintain their profit margins.

There are many quality aftermarket replacement oil filters that fit most MINI models (K&N, Fram, Mann, STP, etc.). Stick to an aftermarket name brand, avoid the off-brands sold on eBay, and you will be fine. Mann is an OEM supplier to MINI.

I'd use them & not worry. I have used both filters, IMO they are both good. There will be no warranty issue. Those are the only 2 types of filters I would ever use on a MINI.

Mann (German) filters are great.
I use them interchangeably with OEM (French/Italian, eeehhh) filters.

a
P.S.: Mann is the OEM for BMW oil filters, but not MINI.

I use both OEM & Mann oil filters... and perform great. BUT if you ordered 3 OEM oil filters, you should get what you ordered and paid for. As simple as that...

We only use the OE MINI filters in our shop as that is all we recommend, and we only offer the OEM ones on the website to prevent this kind of issue. It's really up to you as the customer what you want to do. Just make sure the price you paid reflects the actual parts you got. We have seen the OEM filters cheaper than the Mann filters and sometimes we've seen it the other way where the Mann filters are more expensive.

Mann Filters are just fine. Audi/VW specialist shops use them as their oil filters.
