Mini Siting

Watched the first episode of State of Affairs on NBC. No, I don't know why, other than Katherine Heigl.

But anyway, in one scene, a van or suburban, that some characters were riding in drove through a parking lot (CIA lot?). The lot had several white cars, and suddenly, in this long row of white cars was a bright red mini.

Then later, as they were driving (Secret Service or CIA vehicle), in the background stopped at a light, there was, possibly the same bright red Mini. It was a bit funny to me, to see all these dull cars and then the bright red.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Product placement....
You can't zip through an add when something is "embdeded"....
You noticed it...and you are talking about it..worked...(unless you work for MINI-USA in the social media division, lol, then it is just a job..kinda doubt it!!).
For YEARS it was how the MINI brand was spread.... Even before marketers realized how well it works...
One little known fact...
Remember " The Italian job" movie with the mini's steeling gold....
The makers tried to get cars from MINI...
Mini said no, laughed...did not yet understand it would be HOURS OF FREE ADVERTISING...
Made the movies studio buy the cars at a dealer, retail...for whatever cars they could find on short notice...that is WHY only one of the cars in the move was a S...

So wroooong!

BMW supplied 32 cars, at no cost to the production.
20 Were Justas 12 were S models.
BMW agreed to supply the cars, valued at nearly $600,000, because "it made a lot of sense from the standpoint of promoting the product."

BMC would not supply MINIs to the ORIGINAL 1969 Italian Job!!

BMW was more than happy for the 2003 Italian Job.

It's called a "trade out", same as seeing only Dodge Chargers on NCIS.

One more bit of trivia, three of the MINIs were converted to electric to drive in the MTA tunnels, as gasoline power is barred underground.

Make sense....guess the history and story of the two movies have been mixed up a few times!

There is a (long) thread here on NAM about MINIs spotted in movies and tv shows.
