Totaled MCS

Got taken out by a truck head on this am. Truck slid across completely in my lane. Mini didn't have a chance.

Ouch!! Sounds like you're OK though, which is good. That means the MINI did it's job and protected you.

Sad to hear about the wreck.

Ouch....
Another mini gives its life to save yours!! Guess it had a "good" death....
Terrific that there cars, while small, are built so strong!!
I would hate to think what would have been left (of you)if you had been in a tin can, like a hyundai veloster....

Thanks. Sore everywhere but just had a checkup and am ok. Crazy impact. I didn't think I would walk away. I was unconscious for a few minutes. I 'll post some close up pics later.

The MINI is replaceable. You, my friend, are not. Glad to hear that you are okay!

Sorry for the loss of your MINI.

Here are a couple more pics. Zoom in on the wheel of the truck! The tow trucks had to pull the two vehicles apart.

Cars can be replaced, lives cannot.

The Mini did its job well - be grateful it wasn't an older, poorly designed car.

Speedy recovery, hope you find a worthy replacment.

Lol...when one says "truck" I think a box truck or larger commercial vechicle....
Good you are OK!!
The $$$ hit on a "new" car as you drive it off the lot is huge....
For most a 2+ year old car makes more sense....cars just seem to drive better when not towing a payment!! Lol

Yes, pickup truck - chevy colorado, 4x4, quad cab. Driver was in 4x4 but back end slid out and pointed her into my lane. She tried to save it, fish tailed a couple of times so I didn't know which way to go. Got to the right as far as I could without risking going over the bank. Roads were slushy but we found out after getting out it was a glaze of ice underneath. When i tried braking there was nothing. I have a brand new set of snow tires that were going on this week!

I have to go to retrieve personal belongings tomorrow. I am hoping to get the JB+ and the cable off if I can.

I am still amazed when I look through the pictures I took. The Mini really did a great job of protecting me.

Good to hear...a few stories pop up EVERY fall of folks who end up in a ditch or worse with summer tires....kinda surprised insurance companies don't deny coverage as using summer tires in cold weather makes an accident an act of neglect or willful conduct of recklessness IMO...
Unfortunately you can steer the other drivers car/truck, no matter how good your ties!!
Important thing is everybody was home in their own beds by the end of the day!!

Glad you're OK, hate to see a Spice Orange MCS bite the dust, though.

FWIW, I'd check out the new base Cooper. The turbo 3-cyl is pretty rorty with an exhaust and a Stage 1 tune.

Hahah, I love this.

Glad you're OK, OP... I've seen a lot of gnarly photos of crashed MINIs on here, and the passengers always seem to escape unscathed. These cars are safer than your average SUV enthusiast would think!

Good luck with whatever you decide to drive next. It's a great time to get a good price on an R56, maybe a JCW

Tell you what, though - F56s are piling up at my local dealer, and Mini's offering 0.9% financing on them.

Either way, can't go wrong.

I tried out two wrx's today, a 2014 and a 2015 and a 2015 gti. Didn't like any as well as the mini! My mini was very responsive with the JB+ and helix IC. I was running a larger sway bar and the car rotated really well. I just put in a helix short throw shifter. I was surprised that my wife even liked the shorter throws!

I think I will go try out a new mini this weekend. The .9% financing is a plus. Does anyone know if my 17" Brayton Racing wheels will fit the 2015 mcs?

Also, I retrieved the JB+ and the OBD II cable for hi-jacking the gauges if anyone is interested I am willing to make a deal on them, just shoot me a message.

If you aren't willing to consider the F56, maybe try looking for just a 2013 hardtop? It's obviously not brand new but at least it'll be nearly identical to your 2012 in everything that counts.

0.9% financing IS a great deal though, haha. And right now, no payments until next year!

I tried the F56 when it first released. I was tempted to trade at the time but really liked the way my car was was set up and we couldn't quite reach a deal that I thought was fair.

I still have my summer wheels and a brand new set of snow tires that haven't even been mounted yet.

I just looked on tire rack and it shows 5 lugs for the F56 so I guess my summer wheels will be going up for sale.

Sorry to see your mini, Glad you are alright. What part of Upstate NY?
….I lived in the Greenport/Albany area for 4 years from December 1998 to July 2002. Those winters are brutal there.
