What year...
2002-2006 had one motor...
Then the gen2 had 2 different motors...
Then gen3 has a different motor....
And all 3 coopers are different....

I meant the one closest to the 2015 model. I guess that would be gen3 ?

I am looking for buying a cooper as a commuter car, so I am curious about the "real life" fuel efficiency.

I've gone thru 3 tanks so far. 2 were 40 mpg brisk rural curving, climbing roads & the last was 51.4 about 260 miles. Quite happy. Not much city driving.

That's about the same as my 2010 non S with a manual. That said the new car is a 3 cylinder turbo, it's completely different to the R56 Non-S.
