Missing Hood Bumper Stop?!?!

So, I was cleaning under my hood yesterday and noticed the passenger side hood bumper stop was missing. How in the world does that go missing?!?! You literally have to twist and unthread it out! I only have had my car serviced at the dealer, so the cynical part of me has me wondering?

$15 to replace from the dealer.....really???

Am I missing something here? Is there any other possible explanation for this part to go missing?

it broke and fell out....rubber does fail as it hardens with age...
not sure why it would be removed on purpose....

Could be, but it's not likely IMO. I check things regularly and the other one is in perfect condition. I'm not saying it's a possibility, I'm just finding it unlikely....less than 3 years old.

Curious.....has anyone else had one go missing?

I have seen people back them out to almost the end , then when they shut the hood, they fell off.

about $8...like having to add a QUART of oil...so I would not stress it or cause a fight with the dealer....nothing good will come of it IMO...(bet the dealer is NOT stripping them off random cars to resell..LOL).
Sounds like your dealer is taking a HUGE mark-up on the cheaper parts you might not think to compare to the $$ at other places...
even if it is $3 shopping....still 30% less total....and no extra trip to dealer to tell you...."it will be here in 2 days" or "it is in Germany..be here in 4 days"...then having to go back...
