How hard are you on your MINI?
I like driving any car to the fullest extent of its abilities, but I try not to abuse them. I'll usually wait until the car is warmed up before flooring it, or finding the redline. I've never done handbrake turns, I like to drive efficiently. We do do track days and autocross, they don't put that much strain on the cars except for the tires and brake pads. Tires and pads are wear items and cheap.
While I just got my mini, I do intend to take care of it. I feel that under revving cokes the engine, yet over revving wears the engine. Excessive anything is probably bad for the parts being stressed. I am hoping to prove worng all the harbringiners of doom about minis being unreliable.
I would even go so far as to think the 15% pully is a bad idea.....sure the JCW uses one...but they use it on a different SC. I would love to hear from a 150k mile mini owner who ran the 15% from early on.

I would think not....but if someone more knowledgable could let us know it would be great. I'm getting my info from the Bentley manual and it shows the components of the JCW kit, one of which is the SC which apparently is engineered to handle higher speeds with more efficiency. To quote 010-16 in the 6/2006 edition of the Mini Cooper Service Manual.

I drive my mini the way john cooper would have intended it. I have have more RMW parts then you can shake a stick at... I do not however drive it harder than my s2000.
Although my r53 does rev to 8k.
10k miles thus far at 258whp. Comp ratio across cylinders is still great and cylinder 1 is still fine. If you want to drive your car hard you gotta get the parts that work well and have proven reliability. A tune is probably one of the most important things for reliabilty as well.
Things you do not want to do is to slap a bunch of parts on your car and go have a blast. Get with a mini tuner, plan your upgrades, attain a goal and donit right.
It will cost less if done correctly the first time.

A couple threads on identifying a pulley...basicly factory is hot pressed steel, aftermarket is CNC cut with bolts....
Mine saw redline or near redline almost every day of it's life, even when it was set @ 7500, even now @ 212k if I were to repair just the head it would still drive & run normally for the amount of just basic wear that it has.
I drive the living hell out of mine. I definitely never do harsh driving when cold and wait until it warms up, I replace the oil every 5k, and care about it by washing it, making sure everything is lubricated, etc. But when it comes to driving, this car gets beat at HARD! I went through a set of pads and tires in the first 9k miles.

I think it's cool to drive the car hard.. but just because you leased a vehicle doesn't mean you should beat the living snot out of it... especially during a cold start up.. that's just morally wrong to me.

I drove my two leased vehicles as if I owned them. Driven moderately, not a scratch anywhere, and all maintenance schedules followed religiously. I'm incapable of damaging or ruining property. It's just the way I am.
I'm the same way, I know a guy who beats the hell out of rentals. I just can't do it, I cringe every time top gear doors another car because I can't help but think someone would love to have that car.
I'm the guy that parks in the end spots towards the rear of the parking lot. Or bordered by the pillar in the Metro parking garage. Or situated in the deepest part of the parallel parking spot at the very end of the row. You've seen "me" before.
My friends 04 mcs has 177k on it and he beats the living snot out of it, that's why I bought one.
