Does anyone know if it possible to track a PO by a vehicles VIN? I am looking at a car that has a clean Carfax as well as a clean Autocheck, but it puzzles me as to why it would be at an independent dealer with so few miles on it. It is an '05 and has under 20K on the clock, something I would think a Mini dealer or even another brand dealer would be happy to put on their front line. OTOH, perhaps the fact that it's nearly 9 years old might scare them away? Obviously contacting the PO isn't a guarantee of truth and honesty, but I would think it could be a bit of assurance.

 

It was probably traded in at another dealer, and then wholesaled out at auction. Very common. Lots of higher end dealers just don't want to hassle with a 9 year old used car.

Any car with that low miles is suspect - could mean it sat around not drove - you know what happens to a car that has been sitting? Have a mechanic check it out (forget the prior owner)
