Can I remove/modify this?

Hello all!

I replaced my scoop grill on my 07 MCS to a mini fini...LOVE IT! Seems to be aiding in turbo cooling, and I'd love to get more air to my CAI but the air seems to be restricted by this padded fabric heat shield/fire blanket. I took a pic of it so you can see what in talking about.

What exactly does this thing prevent? Anyone modify it to allow more air to the the CAI in there back of the engine compartment?

Actually that is put together wrong. The foam part should be behind the aluminum heat shield. Put it that way and leave it on. It shouldn't block any of the air that way.

Thanks, Way! I bought the car used and that's how it came. I'll fix it tomorrow. And I actually bought my new scoop grill from you a few weeks ago. Thanks!!

They may have, but they would've had to pay an employee for their time to remedy it.
