daflake, it's coming across as though you're being intentionally obtuse here. Most people are going to see a tested, patented product brought in through legitimate channels as being more reliable than some grey market hack job. I don't know why you're so intent on defending the D1... do you own stock in the company or something?

Yes of course the damaged car could have been struck down by a vengeful God, but it's pretty unlikely. Given the information we have, it seems quite likely it was caused by the D1. As Gray Raven already said, Occam's Razor applies here.

If being obtuse means that I am going to use logic and science rather than a misguided guess, then yep. I am not questioning the patents nor the certifications, what I am questioning is the bashing of a product with no empirical proof. Sorry, but the razor does not apply at all, especially when we no nothing about the rest of the vehicle. It simply could have been nothing more than a short caused by wear. It happens and NO production line has 0 defects. The production of the DME included.

I was really disappointed to found out last week from Way directly that he will not ship to Canada any more, even he told me last year after an episode with ONE Canadian customer that if I call him directly, he will take my order since I was a repeat customer and he did not have any issues with my oreders...
I know it is his business decision, but as a (old) customer that did pay properly few times so far I have all the wright to be disappointed about this... It is a shame in this day and age of endless communications that a vendor refuses to ship to Canada (not overseas) and defends it by saying "has been ripped of numerous times". He was not ripped by me!

I've bought quite a few parts from Way and am very satisfied. Everything is in stock, prices are good and shipping is quick. Also, the kits he puts together and assemblies, like prepressed control arm bushings, are a blessing for DIY. The one time I had a question I received an immediate response by email.

More likely the hassles of shipping out of the country outweigh the gains.

Im not sure how it could be a hassle when the vast of majority of companies do.
The only hassle I see is the actual cost to the consumer of the shipping fees. That is not the sellers problem.

Either buy local, find someone who does, or if you are lucky and live close to a border town have it shipped there.

My personal experiences with Way Motor Works has been a positive one. Way provides some of the most competitive prices and everything always arrives on time. That is my personal opinion. Everyone does businesses differently and has a different way of customer service.

Now with that said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Some may be a bit more rough than others. I am open to everyone discussing their own experiences, opinions and share your thoughts and feedback. What I am NOT tolerant about, is the deliberate trolling, baiting, taunting, and disrespect in this thread.

I'd like to think that we are a group of openminded motorers. MINI owners have always been some of the friendliest people I've ever met. I also understand we are a passionate bunch and can have a voice when needed. But let's all take things with a grain of salt, sit back, sip a beer if we need to and move on if we don't agree with another's opinion. Points are already made and there is no need to beat your opinion into someone else's brain in a digital forum.

And if you forget what the site guidelines, let me take a second to remind you of them.

ON-TOPIC
Posts must be on-topic, relating to discussion of MINI Cooper's or other North American Motoring discussion areas. Posts in the wrong discussion areas will be moved without notice and posts that are not on topic for any North American Motoring discussion area will be deleted without notice.

RESPECT
When posting, both members and vendors must ALWAYS be respectful of fellow members and vendors. Personal attacks, trolling/baiting, deliberate antagonizing, and flaming will not be tolerated. If you feel you are being attacked, report the post or private message rather than replying or flaming back. However, do not use the report bad post feature to "cry wolf" when you are in fact the instigator of the demise of a discussion. Doing so will result in an infraction or strike.
Thanks fellas.

It's a VERY small shop. Only room for one car at a time in the back. I drove in from New Orleans to have my inspection II with him & his team. Actually, he was away on a special last minute trip, but I look forward to driving up there in a year or two (when the extended warranty is up or near to it) and drop some $$ on performance support mods and a tune. I want to up my fun factor! His mechanic had the best service I've known from a mechanic. I'd recommend anyone take a through-the-night drive as I did to let him take care of you.

I'm a little spooked with one of the comments about aggressive tunes though. I haven't spent too much time talking to Way on the phone about a Tune because I want to commit to pay before using up too much of his time, but I want to up the boost. I'd prefer a safer car over a blown engine of course, but how high does Way's tune take the boost?
