NOS in mini?

I was just curious if anyone has tried NOS in a mini yet? I have an 02 mini cooper base model and was thinking about putting a 50 shot? Is this a bad idea? Or if anyone has added a supercharger to one yet? If so how how difficult is it? Feedbacks greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

I've never thought of putting an energy drink in a car, really.

Nitrous can be fairly rough on a car without a tune for it. It's easy to set up the nitrous itself, but man can you do some damage with it.

As you may have noticed, Minis are not about straight line speed. The Mini is really about cornering and handling moreso than 1/4 mile times. I had a 13.7 second Grand Prix that was all about that, but I'll be honest, 121 hp and the ability to take some turns too quickly is much more fun than somewhere around 300. The Mini will best respond to suspension modification and improvement.

Yeah, Nitrous is cool for the fast and the furious or drag racing... seeing as I don't drive like either of those, it's not practical. If you're wanting power, turbo or supercharge will be the most expensive way to go. You can easily add a good intake, put an exhaust that reduces restriction of the airflow for the smallest dents in your pocket book, but they won't do near as much as charging it will. Lastly, mid range for the cost, get your cylinder head, intake manifold ported, and add a more aggressive cam, and you'll see a lot more power coming out of your engine.

If you want more power buy a r53. Nitrous will cause damage repairs will run more than the added cost of the r53. The transmissions in r50s are known to fail under stock conditions.

Talk to ThumperMCS. Personally I wouldn't do it, but he suggested it to me when I was looking for a tune. I think he has all you'd need for a nitrous kit

I have intake and exhaust, getting a tune in 2 weeks. If I still need more I'll get an R53 because I'm not willing to go as far as header/head/cam, I don't think.

NOS has been done - I met a guy up in Cape Cod back in 2004 who had it in an '02 or '03 MCS. As for the who or what of the install - don't remember...

As for Supercharging - you'll save yourself a ton of money if you just get an early MCS (02-06) - they were ALL supercharged.

Turbo - 07-Present MCS...

I think adding a Supercharger or a Turbo to a MC is more trouble & money than it's worth considering you can get an MCS with them already..
