Dirty intake valve question

I have an 07 Mini S, 75,000mi and have had problems with oil light coming on after each oil change. I've changed the valve cover, pcv valve, oil pump and the oil light continues to come on at stop lights and then goes off when driving. I know the intake valves are dirty and I plan to have the dealer clean them using walnut shells. Could the dirty intake valves cause my oil light to come on? Do I need to change the oil after having the walnut shell cleaning?

I don't think that would affect your oil pressure. It's probably time to see either the dealer or a trusted pro. They can double-check your actual oil pressure to see if the sender for the light is OK or not (hopefully it's just the sender!) and if you really do have low oil pressure they can give you some idea of the cause.

It may be very bad (and $$$) news, though. :(

To avoid these MINI Cooper problems it is very important to learn and understand the lights and gauges on your dash. It is also important to get under the hood of your vehicle and get familiar with some of the common components that need checking periodically.Common Causes of Low Oil Pressure as follows:
  1. Oil pressure light on because: You just changed oil and filter and put oil filter in upside down.
  2. Oil pressure light on because: You damaged the small bypass valve at the bottom of the filter housing on filter installation.
  3. Oil pressure light on because: Oil pressure is low due to oil level is too low, check and add engine oil, check for oil leaks and repair leak.
  4. Oil pressure light on because: Oil pressure switch is defective, Check switch on filter housing, if the switch is leaking it's may be the cause of the light being on, replace switch, add oil, and try again.
  5. Oil pressure light on because: Oil pressure is low due to internal failure (this is typically accompanied by an engine knocking sound).
