Got a black eye today

Not good.

On my way to work... A Trail Blazer pulls off on the shoulder in front of me, then decides to make a U-Turn.

Did you ask them how many people, besides themselves, do they think lives on this planet? Sure hope your body shop can get that sorted to your satisfaction, I don't think I'd be calm enough to take such a steady picture.

Yeah, the police showed, took a report. The other driver ran right over to me and felt awful. Admitted right away that he was at fault.

That same scenario happened to my brother-in-law, except he was riding his motorcycle with his girlfriend on the back. Thank god they both were wearing all the safety gear they could buy.

Glad you’re alright and your MINI gets back to normal soon!

Hope that damage is just cosmetic and can be fixed up easily!

It's not been a good week for Pepper White mini's!

Thankfully, the guy was all apologies. Crap happens and I'm glad he was honest and didn't go with the, "don't admit to anything" as insurance companies command. I get why they do it, but if it can't be explained to a child...

Anyone have some recommendations for graphics? I'm thinking I may want to change up my stripes.

Aesthetic Creations site is down and I've already been on MINIMOTORINGGRAPHICS. I know I've been to some other sites in the past, but I can't find them and google's driving me crazy!

When I go to their website, it just says that due to some site maintenance that their online shop is temporarily unavailable. They give an "archived" site (that doesn't work) and a phone number.

I'm just looking to view some options and to hear from people who have good experiences with particular vendors.

Sorry to see that. There have been several posts over the last week like this. But yours looks like it is begging for an Aero front end.

I know of a place in Albany area that does custom stripe work; check my signature he did my stripe and has done some pretty neat stuff. But I think he stays local, but it might be worth a shot as you are not that far away.

Thanks. And yeah, the driving I've seen in the last week has been really bad. As I was on the side of the road waiting for the police report, a truck pulled out from a side road and right into a utility trailer being pulled by a 10 yard dump truck. How do you not see a 10 yard dump dump truck AND a utility trailer????

I agree - the Aero front bumper will happen. There's no better time than now.

Funny - I found his site last night and found something close, but not quite what I want.

Here's what I actually want.

Heh, when I first read the title I thought the thread was going to be a story that started off like "How not to remove the gear shift ****.."

Glad no one was hurt.

I thought it was going to be about installing new springs.

Very nice. All or a lot of the work he does is custom, so if this picture is what you want, send it to him and he will do it.

He does all of the strips and other graphics for our local MINI Dealer and he has the dies to cut around the MINI flags in the front and back. So his stuff looks like it is a MINI product.

This is the stripe they did for me (I hope you can view this)

I was able to see that photo - looks nice and if you've had a great experience, I'll be in touch with him. Since I'm getting a new bonnet, I think the way to go with the new stripe is to install it before the MINI emblem goes on. Then no need for cutting.

So the way this accident happened (other car pulls off on the shoulder ahead of me, I start to go past him and he makes a U-Turn in front of me) what will happen to my insurance rates? And even though he did admit to me and the officer that he was at fault, he can't get ticketed since the officer didn't witness it. Will that be a factor with the claim?

I also thought that "who hits who" matters. And since I hit him, I'm just curious if they may give a percentage of the blame to me - possibly affecting the claim and my rates. Just want to be ready for what's coming...

I think you are "thinking" too much about this.

I assume that you have contacted your insurance and provided them a copy of the police report. You should also have a contact for the other persons insurance and possibly have contacted them. Submit your claims and let it play out for a little while, you might be pleasantly surprised.

There is a reason that my '07 is listed as "RIP"
My fault and my insurance didn't go up.

Looking at the damage you have lots of options. There was recently a thread where a guy dad put a carbon fiber hood on his car and it looked great. As I recall it came off of eBay and was cheaper than the OEM hood. Some of the hoods have gills on the top of the hood - which I liked - and others didn't,

You could even paint the hood while masking off the stripe pattern you want so they are simply exposed carbon fiber. Just and idea.

You're probably right - I tend to do that. I think I'll know more today - adjuster either inspected the car yesterday or will do it today.
