Hurricane Sandy

When you have 2 Mini's and a 2 car garage and there is a hurricane, you are thankful that you have 2 Mini's. They fit even with a Mini Van in the garage. I wish for the best possible outcome for those in the hardest hit areas of the hurricane. Best wishes to all "Nammers" who are in the path of Hurricane Sandy.

Worst of it for me will be tonight and first half of tomorrow. Expecting sustained winds of 50-70 MPH here. Not as bad as some places though. Hoping not to have any extended power outages. Just saw there are already half a million homes without power in the eastern part of our state.

Everyone in the mid-atlantic and Ohio valley areas.... batten down the hatches.

So, that's what the garage is for...

Well parked!

Stay safe folks, we are having a lot of wind and rain right now as well. Hopefully we won't lose power.

I'm pretty sure I will no longer be a MINI owner when I return to NYC. I left mine parked on the street in Howard Beach when I left town last week. I didn't know there was a storm coming at all. :(

Wow, that sucks !! I was truly blessed only to have minor damage to my property.

Hope you're wrong and the MINI is fine but if it's not, hope you get good service from your insurance company. Good luck !!

used car buyers beware

in a few weeks the used car market is going to see another flood

a flood of water damaged used cars .... 'cept you won't see the damage. They will have been cosmetically repaired. But over time, not much time, the eletricals are gonna fail one by one . . . .

be very very wary of used cars for the next 12 months . . . .

how do I know? I sold both my cars after going thru hurricane Andrew, after their multiple electric failures ... window switches, windshield wiper motors, fans . . . the glass was busted out, and the inside soaked. SOAKED.

Many things worked for 6 months or so ... and then .... I got a good price for both of my cars as trade ins, I made 'em look good. Someone else got shafted . . .

Definitely good advice, Capt. And by no means buy a used yellow car with a sign on top.

Saw a poor Mini in Hartford, CT w/ roof crushed by a tree in paper this morning? Think it was in NY Post. Inland of CT faired a lot better this Halloween than last but the shore got hammered much worse.

This is my one car garage with two cars and two motorcycles in it ready for Sandy.
There is literally 1/2 inch between the mini front bumper and the wall and the back bumper and my wife's Fit, and 1/2 inch from my wife's back bumper and the garage door.
It was a pain doing and I do not want to do it again,
