Average speed calculation

I was going through the OBC readings and i noticed that it said my average speed was 2.2 mph. Now, I do hit some really bad traffic during morning rush hour, but i definitely go much faster than that on average. Has anyone else had odd average speed readings and does anyone know how is calculated? Just curious.

I'd imagine its calculated by distance/time. I think my average speed is around 28mph although I'm usually driving about 40.

It also calculates your speed when you're at a stop... which is 0.

If you spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic, then it'll bring the average down by a lot.
