Mini to 150000 miles?
Mini to 150000 miles?
Girl friend has a 2006 mini cooper with 85,000 miles and would like to keep it until it reaches 150K miles
Question is what does she face in terms of potential maintenance issues and will it become a money pit at some point?
Thanks in advance

There was a thread on first gens with over 100k, give that a search.
Its doable. I think people mentioned top motor mounts, control arms, and a clutch/throwout bearing as the major points of concern.
If its gotten you this far without any problems, just do oil changes and don't abuse it and it should take you the rest of the way.

being new to the new minis i might not be the right person to answer this, and as far as what typically goes out, i'm not sure. but i do know if you take care of it, keep the fluids changed, and don't drive like a mad man, it should last awhile. after all it's a BWM engine and i've heard lots of stories about people getting alot more than 150K
I've got 131,000 on my 2005.
It's sitting right now because I need to get the transmission replaced. I think I have a bad bearing in the differential (it's a 5 speed "Justa" convertible). I'm not sure that scheduled maintenance would have changed the fact that it went, but I'll be getting it fixed. Other than that, it's running just fine with normal maintenance.
I even have the factory clutch in it (will be getting changed with the trans)
I have done Shocks / Struts
Tie Rods
Ball Joints
brakes and rotors
oil changes (mostly to Mini's recommendations)
bushings
wheel bearings
Valve Cover Gasket
OH and my car lived the first 5 years of it's life in Northeast Ohio in the Snow Belt (AKA The Rust Belt)

Fear not. MINIs, if well maintained & driven, are pretty solid little cars. Not w/o issues, but they can last. What we get more from forums are threads usually seeking advice/help, less of those proclaiming the positives. Obviously, expect more expense on repairs & maintenance for any aging/hi-mile vehicle.
