I have a 2006 Mini hatchback with 58k miles on it. Periodically the car has troubles starting. Usually this happens after I drive the car, if it's been sitting for a while it starts fine.

I just replaced the battery so I know that isn't the issue.

If I'm driving about and then turn the engine off to turn it back on and it doesn't start -- a fix seems to be to turn off the car, pop the bonnet (hood) and take out and put back in the fuses to the engine or if I let the car sit for about an hour.

anyone have any ideas or have had a similar issue?

EDIT: if I turn the ignition to the engine, I still get lights, door chimes and the whole works with the electrical system
