Wanted to thank all the people who've posted tips, and instructions on this Forum. I did the first Oil Change on my Mini Yesterday and because of you guys/gals, it was a no brainer and so easy!!!

Glad we could be of help, although I don't know if I helped directly. Did you make sure the little spring thing was still in the oil filter housing when you put the new filter in? If you are getting the low oil pressure light flickering on at idle the spring thing came out with the old filter and it's not normal. If you still have the old filter take a look at it and see if there's an extra spring like thing on there- it will be pretty obvious if you left it on the old filter.

I did not see a spring in my old filter or in the canister. I also am not getting any oil lights and I have driven almost 200 miles since the oil change. Should I be concerned?

 

If there is no spring thing on your old filter and the oil pressure light isn't coming on, you should be OK. I'll try to remember this thread and post a picture of what the inside of a filter canister should look like next time I change the oil.
