We were there! We took our Pepper White this year instead of the Oxygen Blue.

 

 

I was around and about, saw a lot of your cars and it was very nice to see them in real life and not just on here! Porthos, I saw your roof graphic many times and love it, I didn't realize that was your car.


I was with "Gizmo" my Hyper Blue MCS (The one with the checkered mirror caps in this shot). This was my first time at MOTD and will certainly not be the last.

 

I twas there, stayed in Robbinsville, 3rd for me....

 

I made it.

 

I made again this year. Great weather and all went well. I drove the Clubman last year and was amoung only a few. the cabrio was so fun. This year tons of Clubmans and Countrymans too. I think there were only 2 or 3 countryman in the last car show, a lot more this year. Looking forward to next year.

I'm waiting for my Green Bonnet to get out of the VDC. I have read other post here but unable to what the have been talking about, my detective sense seems to say it must be some rally or race!!!!

Absolutely fair question! Since 2003 Minis have been gathering for five days at the beginning of May at Fontana Dam, NC, to motor on the Dragon, Rt. 129, which is 11 miles long and has 318 curves and switchbacks!!!!! It is five days of runs, parties, events, vendors, and everything Mini! Google MOTD 2012 to view this years itinerary. This was my first year and already prebooked for next year! It fills up FAST! this year had the highest attendance with over 700 Minis and over 1000 people!

 

Quick Question -hope it is okay. Owning a Mini and driving the dragon is on my Bucket list. Bought my Mini this year and hope to attend the dragon next year. (We are making a big move this year so with selling our current home it was out)
Where do stay?-hotels etc. I would like to pre-book if possible.

Fontana Dam Resort! That is where all the action is! Book now! We were originally booked for Robbinsville Microtel, as Fontana was booked. Called the week before the dragon and a cabin became available! We booked for next year before we even left! They say that's what you need to do. CALL NOW!!!!

And as far as the move - thanks for that as well. Already joined Coastal Minis Club prior to our move. I am sooo excited!!!

 

Just be sure to call them about once a month or so. Then twice to three times a week the closer it gets.

Mine either!!! He goes on club runs with me most times. He was the one who encouraged us to attend The Dragon. I was shocked, but he actually enjoyed it immensly! Mini peeps ROCK

He also told me at The Dragon to go ahead and pre-book for next year! Let him drive a run ONCE, and he totally didn't get "it". Ticked off the Minis behind us. But then, he drives a Toyota Tacoma

Not going to let him drive a run again. He does serve as my DD at times

Love the story. My husband has the mustang now. The mustangs run the Dragon I think the week or two before Mini, but it isn't something he is interested in. The turning radius is amazing in his car though and would be a great deal of fun. His vehicle prior to the mustang was a tacoma - so I hear you on that one. Thanks again. Great time, better than last year. The personal poster was a nice touch. Where I live it's mostly straight boring roads, the Dragon so is where the MINI shines. Fun, fun,fun.

 

it was me and my gf's first time at the dragon. we had an awesome time driving around the area and we got to spend some money on my car too....always a plus

 

Was going to attend this year, but had to finish up my degree earlier this spring. So providing I get a steady job, and can allow myself a few days off, I'm planning on going next year.

I've been on the Dragon once several years ago, although my Dad was driving while I was riding shotgun, and my Mom in the backseat. Needless to say, their 05' Cadillac SRX at the time handled the curves quite well. But ooooh boy were those brakes smoking by the end.

 

My DH can't believe it.
He never saw it coming either and has started calling me "motor head."
I used to take pictures of the kids, then, when they weren't so cute anymore, I moved on to the family pets, and now I take pictures of my car.
It cracks him up
He enjoys the events and has even admitted that Little Wing is lots more fun to drive than his Avalon. Ya think?
On the Dragon he never stops telling me to "slow down!" and I never stop threatening to drop him off by the side of the road.
This was our 3rd MOTD.
