When should I take my MINI for her first service appointment?

Hi, I am not 100% sure when to take her in. My MA told me that it shows up on the display when I start up my car, which it does. Right now I've driven only 3000 miles and it's telling me to get service at 11,000 miles in August 2013? That seems like a long time to go for the first service appointment. That would almost be 2 years from when I got her. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

Thanks.

Actually, it is telling you to get service done in another 11,000 miles or Aug 2013. If you get to the one year mark - Aug 2012(?) - and haven't had an oil change, you should go ahead and get that done (should be part of your included maintenance). Otherwise, just keeping an eye on things like oil level, air pressure in tires, general condition should be enough.

Thank you jcauseyfd. It'll be a year in October. I'll definitely schedule an oil change then. Thanks again.

In my opinion i would have the oil changed before then. Maybe in 7k more miles tops. It is always good to get new oil in the engine, ideally you would change it every 5k miles, but that might be over kill in most cases, but i would shoot for every 10k at the most.
