One of my puggles (Homer) and my english springer spaniel (Winchester) had a road trip this weekend in the Countryman.

My motoring companion. He loves the front seat, wind in his fur.

Ready to go

He just barely fits,... prefers the front seat to start off and then wanders to the folded down back. 90 pounds, he is a big puppy still growing from that skinny waif I brought home from the shelter.

My saint bernard likes to snooze in the well of the boot. He's small for a saint (~85 lbs) and it's a pretty good fit for him - he just kind of melts in. It's nice for me too because when he's there I can still see out the back windows. When he stands up back there I see nothing but dog.

Pug. Although not an overweight pug (17lbs) she occasionally will trip the airbag light when moving around.

When I first got my Cardigan Welsh Corgi, had a MINI call me over to see their dog in the passenger foot well. Mine rides either the same way or in the backseat with a hammock protector. Friend of mine fit two large dogs in the back of his MINI with the seats down. Personally, I wouldn't let a dog ride on the passenger seat due to the airbag.

Here is Jet our Golden retriever / poodle cross (Groodle) (40kg) With the rear seats locked forward in the vertical position, and the liftable cover removed, there is room for him to sit behind, and put his head between the head rests. He seems to love the confined space, and wedges himself against the rear seats with his paws. I would only use this for going to the beach with him (it is only a kilometre from out house). This keeps all the sand and salt in the boot of the car.
I make sure that we only drive to the beach, because if he realises that all he has to do is go down to the bottom of the block, cross the Cook Hwy, and down the road, and he is in doggy paradise, we would surely loose him. For longer trips I would put one or both back seats down.

Every dog is good for a mini

I have had 5 dogs in my mini all at the same time when we had a date with the Vet for rabies vaccines. Two large labs one very large labradoodle and two terriers. Everyone was very cozy in the back with the seat down. The greatest little car ever.

Trust me, with a dogs sense of smell he knows exactly where the beach is from your house! They find their way primarily by smell, then sound, but not so much by sight.

So true, but I still think he has not figured it out yet!! Not the sharpest tool in the shed

Even I can smell the Coral Sea from here. But again dogs are creatures of habit, and when I mention the walk word, he runs to the back of one of the cars.
