Thanks, MINILLA.

I'm from Blacksburg, VA, so BOT Dragon is fairly close. I've actually ridden part of it on my bike to get to Hungry Mother State Park, but didn't know it was so special.

They are trying to replicate the tourism success that the Tail of the Dragon created for Graham County. The name Back of the Dragon was really just created last year and they had a big event to "open" it. They've also been working with the local business groups, chambers and governments to recognize it as a tourist destination. I understand they have been trying to work with LEO on stressing safety versus compliance, though I'm not sure how that is going.

iirc, their next Back of the Dragon Day is June 2nd. I think a small contingent from THMMC and HRMINI showed up last year, but haven't seen much interest this year.

And yes, it is a good road.
