Cooper scan tool

I am new to the Mini world and learning fast. I jumped in with both feet. I do love to drive my 2002 Cooper. I don't know what I would do with more power but hey I'll try one someday. My wife's drive is a 2010 Clubman Auto not as fun but still better than conventional cars.
My 2002 died as far as it will not start. It turns over fast but just won't hit not one cylinder. First I suspected was possibly a fuse or fuel pump but it could be various thing that causes this. I do have an Actron OBD scan tool but no codes come up. I tried a Equis Inovo 3950 and that is going to be returned it seems to not be for European cars at all unless maybe I burn some more money. Any consensus on the best scan tool for our Minis and possibly from 2002 to 2010? Thanks for a boost, Charley from Newport,NC.

Not all conditions throw codes. If you CEL is not on you likely don't have a code stored. Not sure why you Equus does not work for you but there is no reason it should not work. The model number you gave does not seem to exist? If you meant 3150 then that can read your codes though it will not do live data but you don't need that to read codes.

I have a HF reader that works fine. Got it on sale for about half the listed price.

Bavarian Technic is the only scanner (that I'm aware of) that reads all of the modules like ABS, airbags, powertrain, and comfort / convenience.
It reads the specific MINI-protical fault codes, not just the generic OBDII p-codes which are generally misleading.
